Many facial wrinkles occur when we make repeated facial expressions.

At Victoria's Cosmetic Medical Clinic our Cosmetic Physician Dr Julie Ostberg can treat these with several small injections that relax the tiny facial muscles that cause expression lines, leaving the overlying skin smooth and unwrinkled. Once the muscle is relaxed, you cannot contract it and continue to make the undesirable facial expression. Therefore the lines gradually smooth out from disuse, and new creases are prevented from forming.

This will make you appear more relaxed, less tired and therefore you may even feel younger. This product works on the specific areas treated. It will not freeze your facial expressions; it softens them and works where you want it to.

This is a prescription only medicine and therefore can only be performed by fully trained medical personnel.

What is My First Step Towards Treatment?

Upon consultation Dr Julie Ostberg will determine your suitability for treatment. She will also decide depending on several factors how much product will be needed to achieve acceptable results. You will be given a quote as to how much your treatment will cost. Your treatment may be had on the same day or booked for a future time to suit.

Where can Frown Line Treatments be used?

These are used widely for the elimination of:

• Frown lines between the eyebrows.
• Active horizontal forehead wrinkles.
• Crows feet or smile lines around the eyes.
• Bulging lower eyelids.
• Bunny Scrunch lines at the sides of the nose
• Smoker Lines - only some clients are suitable.

It can also be used to:

• Lift the eyebrow and open up the eye for a more youthful appearance.
• Re shaping of your eyebrows - the horizontal brow, arched brow, flared brow.
• Relax nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth, perioral lines.
• Reduce tight neck bands.
• Reduce chin dimpling or creasing.
• Relax lines on the sides of the nose (bunny scrunch)
• Reduce excessive underarm perspiration (Hyperhidrosis).

What side effects should I expect?

The most common side effects are temporary and localised to the area of injection. These include temporary soreness, localised redness, mild bruising and headache. On very rare occasions a heavy eyelid may develop lasting 1 - 4 weeks. If this occurs the doctor may be able to treat this immediately with eyedrops. To date there have been no permanent side effects reported.

Is treatment expensive?

Frown Line treatments are surprisingly affordable - around the same price as a couple treatments at the hairdressers. Cost is determined upon consultation with Doctor Ostberg. It will depend on the strength of the muscles and the area being treated. e.g. The average frown line will be somewhere between $250 - $400.
